Site News

I have spent some time modifying the site, to make it a little more uniform and appealing to the eye.

Wow. It has been quite some time since I last updated this site. I have spent most of my spare time building up my side business while also writing magazine articles for various technical periodicals. I am sure I will be posting it as soon as it hits the shelves but expect an article in Linux+ Magazine with my featured article on Linux Volume Management. When it comes to technical materials, I usually do a pretty good job of routinely writing about it on my blog.

Now where should I begin? Nothing new on the historical/theological related authoring front. Nothing Biblical related focused on in the news either. What I plan to do in the near future is work from the RSS (XML) feeds posted through Biblical Archaeology Review and from other news sites to embed into this news page so it can do all the updating for me with little effort on my part. If you hand't noticed yet, I have also done some cleaning up on the site. This includes consolidation of information and the addition of a view advertisements.

What I wanted to spend some time on is a quick review of a book I had purchased at the end of last year. I came across this book in the most unconventional method. Every now and then I review my access logs to all of my websites. That means I see how many visitors I have, where they are geographically located, along with what site they usually come from to my website(s). From Eastern Asia, an individual had done a Google image search and somehow landed on my website. I pulled up the Google search and saw an image for a cover of a book called, The Assyrian Exile: Israel's Legacy in Captivity. Author Cam Rea had done a great job in researching this work. While I may not entirely agree with all of his conclusions, he is still very convincing and I did find his book very informative and entertaining on the period referred to as the Neo-Assyrian Period and more specifically the Assyrian Exile of the Israelites. The author attempts to locate the Lost Tribes of Israel after the Assyrian Exile and in his quest he searches through all the Assyrian war records.

Outside of that, recently I have spent some time reading up on the Bedouins. If only I can find some information on the Pre-Islamic Bedouins, who supposedly worshipped the moon on top of a pantheon of deities.
